How to throw an American themed wedding

Themed weddings are always fun. You can go as far as you want when it comes to doing your theme justice. It could be as small as dancing to Chuck Berry for your first dance, or you could go as far as to decorate your wedding dress with the American flag. You have absolute freedom to make your wedding as cool or as crazy as you want. So, if you’ve decided on an American theme on your wedding but don’t know where to start, here are a few ideas:

The food

If you’re looking for some fun, laid back food at your wedding you might want to consider arranging an American menu. Because America is so divers and so many nationalities contributed to its culture you almost have endless options. You could have gourmet burgers, pies, chili, pasta, barbecue or even fried chicken. Putting some delicious comfort food on the table is a great way to give your guests a meal they’re sure to love and make your wedding extra memorable.

The Drinks

If you’re looking for subtlety then one way to channel your American theme is to serve American themed cocktails at your wedding. Red, white and blue looks great in a martini glass and no one wouldn’t appreciate some delicious drinks.

The Music

Just like American food, American music has found inspiration from all over the world. Music is one of the great treasures of America, so compliment your American theme with some fantastic American music. Going back in time to some of the iconic eras of American music will give your wedding a special edge and a fantastic first dance with your partner to be.

The Decoration

Red, white and blue are such a lovely colour combination, so why not make your whole wedding red white and blue? Coordinate your bridesmaids, groomsmen and venue decorations with this striking colour theme that your guests will immediately recognise. Go a step further and add an American flag as a statement piece to your décor.

American cinema

An American theme doesn’t have to be limited to typical America. If you want to have some fun with your wedding theme then why not consider making your theme ‘American cinema’? Dress yourself and your guests as your favourite cameras from American films and add in some cinema props to sweeten the deal. You’re sure to take some hilarious photographs and people will be talking about your wedding for years to come.

Go all out

No one said that an American theme has to be limited to decorations and music. You always have the option of going one step further. Having your wedding in America is a great way to capture the theme, give your wedding a perfect backdrop and shorten the commute to your honeymoon suite. Nothing is in your way. Applying for an ESTA is as easy as going online and weddings abroad are actually not as expensive as you think. Tie the knot in the perfect location and make your wedding the best holiday ever.
