6 Biggest Wedding Planning Mistakes All Brides Must Avoid

When you’re closing in on the D-day and there’s still a lot of work to be done from choosing a venue to picking a photographer, it is only natural that you’ll start receiving advice from all the quarters. You may probably go online and read up about every do and don’t in the book, while your family members and friends feed you their own versions of what’s right and what’s not.

So when so much is advice is coming your way, often unsolicited, it’s become important to separate the useless from the usable (advice of course!). Let’s acquaint you with some of the biggest wedding planning mistakes you must steer clear from at such a time.

Mistake #1 – Skimp on a Photographer

Do not forget that with any luck, this will be the last time that you do this and you want to preserve every single memory for ever. Getting a friend to take the photos or video, or relying on guests to snap throughout the day is a recipe for disaster. Unless your friend is Annie Leibowitz, you are going to want to hire a Pro. When it comes to preserving them for time immemorial, your best bet is to shop for wedding photo books online. You can benefit from great quality at a much lower price.

Mistake #2 – Improve your vows

No! You really don’t want to do that! Spend some alone time penning down your vows and memorize them if possible. You may not realize right now, but you’ll be so choked up by the emotions of your wedding day that it may become impossible for you speak everything you had wanted to, off-the- cuff.

Mistake #3 – Budget the food

You are already-married friends may tell you that nobody eats the food, and it may not make sense to go overboard with the food packages. You’d be advised to keep just the most basic selection of appetizers and main course. However, in reality, food is one of the most important things that guests remember on your wedding day. Therefore, try to get as many food options as possible on the table, if your budget permits of course. And then perhaps do a little more, especially the items which may appeal even to the pickiest eaters!

Mistake #4 – Keep it a BYOB affair

By far one of the biggest mistakes you can make is expecting your guest to carry their own booze. In case you’re not in a financial position to have an open bar, go with it only for a couple of hours, and then switch back to the cash bar, to save some money.

Mistake #5 – Go for a random seating arrangement

Although this may seem like a good idea in the beginning, as it may save you plenty of time and hassle to seat every individual, how would it look if your sorority sisters from the University are seated next to Aunt Susie?!

Mistake #6 – Wait for a discount on your wedding dress

To-be- brides often make the mistake of waiting for their wedding dress until the last moment expecting it to become cheaper. Please know, the longer you hold up this task, the more expensive those rushed-up, last moment alterations will become. You’re not going to get some coupon miraculously in your mail, or any flash sales happening out of turn. So buy your wedding dress well ahead of the wedding day.
