Inviting ex In-Laws to second wedding

I have been a widow for 6 years and have met a wonderful and we plan to be married next year. Is there any rule about inviting your ex in-laws? Since I have two children from my first husband, we, of course, keep in touch all the time. Even though they are ex in-laws, not by choice, they are still friends?

Dear Pamr:

It's great that you and your ex in-laws get along so well and still have contact.

As long as your fiance is on board with your ex in-laws attending the wedding then I see no reason why they should not be invited. Most often you will read that ex-family members should not be included when there has been a divorce and there are hard feelings involved.

All the best,
