vow renewal casual or semi-formal?

If you rent a meeting room at a fancy motel and plan to have the brunch catered with strawberry crepes and champagne punch should the dress be casual or semi-formal at a vow renewal ceremony?

Most vow renewals are (or should be) informal events. Motels are generally not fancy so I would guess this would be an informal event.

The level of formality is typically based on time of day, location and type of event.
