reaffirmaing wedding vows for 5th anniversary.
My husband and I are planning on renewing our wedding vows for our 5th anniversary. We were married at the court house and i am regretting not having a wedding
We want it to be formal, but I am not for sure exactly what we need to do. Would we ask our Pastor to do the reaffirmation ceremony? Do we take our rings off and exchange them again? Would it be inappropriate for me to wear a white wedding dress? I am planning on getting my husband a new wedding band since he had his when we were going out and he was wearing it to show he was taken, so i do want to put a new one on his finger.

Dear Jennifer:
Although it is not necessary to have a member of the clergy or an officiant for vow renewals it is certainly acceptable. Call your pastor and ask him if he would do the honoors. If he (or she  ) is available and willing then ask the pastor for advice on how to run the ceremony.
Then, review our page on
renewing wedding vows
