Wedding dress for vow renewal ceremony

Let me start off by saying I love this website. My hubby and I have been married for 8 years we have had our ups and downs. I had gastric bypass sugery on December 19th and wanted to wear a wedding dress to our vow renewal. I know you are not supposed to wear a wedding dress to your vow renewal but when I got married I was not able to wear a wedding dress. I wanted to know if it would be ok to wear a tradetional wedding dress to my vow renewal. I want wedding pictures with me in a wedding dress. Is it ok for the bridesmaides to wear brideamaids dresses or just a regular dresses. I am trying to get all the anwsers before I start planning.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Although I understand all too well what you've accomplished there, a vow renewal is not a wedding and should not include a dress that looks like a wedding gown or attendants. Please review our pages on vow renewals since we address these issues in greater depth there. You can still have a wonderful renewal - just not a wedding since you're already married. I couldn't agree more. I'm sure you want to appear as socially savvy when you celebrate your marriage with friends and family. A nice cocktail dress would show off the new waist line just fine. Rebecca Black, Etiquette Consultant Etiquette Now http://www.etiquettenow.com
