Renewing vows for one year wedding anniversary
My husband and I have only been married less than a year....we are expecting our first child in October and will probably have a baby shower a month before. I would like to renew our wedding vows. I want it to be a surprise to the guests. My husband obviously knows about the renewal....would it be inappropriate to take a few minutes to have an officiant renew our vows after 1 year? I want to renew them because it'll be about a year we've been together, and I thought it would be a nice gift to each for our 1 year anniversary and to also take the vows again before our child is born. Thoughts???

Dear Wants to Renew,
It would be fine to do so, but anyone could do this since it is not a blessing of the church or a legal ceremony.
Someone will have to offer to host a baby shower for you. It isn't something you could ask someone to do. Plus, if this is the place you are planning on surprising your guests, your host would have to approve of it.
Best wishes,
