Planning a vow renewal
My husband and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversay in 2010. We were married in a courthouse and never had a church wedding. This is my husband's first marriage and my second (it was also in a courthouse - I had 3 kids from my previous marriage and none from him). Anyway, we are both catholic and wanted to have our marriage blessed by the Church. What is the proper way of planning this event? I don't want to do an all out wedding since we are already married. I just wanted a Church ceremony and perhaps a party afterwards in a banquet hall (do you think is is appropriate?)
Thanks in advance.

Dear Helen -
There's a bit of a difference between a vow renewal and a Catholic Convalidation Ceremony (blessing of the marriage).
You can read all about how these events are planned right on this website using the left navigation.
After reviewing these pages, if you still have questions, feel welcome to come back and post.
Happy Anniversary
