Catholic renewal ceremony?
My husband and I were married 4 years ago by a notary republic. I am Catholic and would like to go back to my church. I've been away from the faith for a while. Does the church recognize this type of marriage? If not, would I be able to have an actual wedding in the church or just a vow renewal? Thanks!

Go to your local church and speak to the priest. You could have a blessing of the marriage but not really a wedding since you're already married. The blessing offers you the best of both worlds while still looking appropriate to everyone. Just imagine how your guests will perceive a wedding for a couple they already know to be married for 3 years. I Do - Take Two Site Administrator

The administrator is absolutely correct. The Catholic Church views your marriage as valid and real, but not sacramental because you, as a Catholic, married outside the Church. As such, an actual wedding ceremony is not in order. However, having your marriage blessed by the Church is a wonderful plan and after the blessing ceremony, your marriage will then be viewed as sacramental in the eyes of the Church. This can be a strengthening point in your faith. A wedding being blessed is no less a joyous occasion than an actual wedding ceremony! Please speak to your local priest, who can answer all your questions about the sacrament of marriage and can be a help and support to you as you learn to live out your faith. May God bless you and guide you. Kay and Dennis Flowers Authors of Catholic Annulment, Spiritual Healing
