wedding gifts, checks to charity
So this is both mine, adn my fiance's second wedding. We are financially stable together and have enough stuff. We wanted to have people give money to two charities of our choice, instead of giving us gifts. WIll guests be OK with doing this? How do we word this on the invitation?

How very generous of you! However, it is not proper to mention gifts of any kind on the invitation, even donations to charity. Perhaps you could spread the word through family and friends of your wishes. Your guests will either choose to do this or not; it's their decision but you should know that you may receive some gifts from well meaning family and friends. If you receive any monetary gifts you could make the donation in your guests name and have a letter sent to them by the charity. If you receive a gift that you don't want or need you can choose to return the gift for something you can use, get a refunnd and donate the refund to charity or you can donate the gift to charity.
A good way to share this sort of infomration is to make your own personal wedding website. This way you can post pictures, have an online rsvo and have your charity information posted. These sites are relatively inexpensive now. Please see
