     belated wedding receiption

Last June 06' my fiancee and I were married in a courthouse in FL. Our family and friends are in MD. We want to have a recieption this June for our 1 yr anniversary in MD. Is it ok to be have our friends and family who were going to be in our wedding dress up and have pictures taken? Or is that a lttle to much. I dont know what to do.
Thanks in advance.

Dear Avonegger,

The longer a person waits to host their reception the more elements of the traditional reception should be omitted because they just don't seem to make sense. Your party would be more of an anniversary party. We don't usually dress in our wedding clothes for an anniversary party. Plus, these people weren't members of your wedding party either. So, it may come off as odd.

It is best to plan this as an anniversary party and not a wedding reception. It can still be festive, but just not include the traditional reception elements.

Best wishes,

There were health reasons that I for got to mention why we waited so long to have our reception. Thanks for the advice!

I hope all are well now. So many people have to wait these days due to military deployment. So, delaying the reception is becoming more common.
