Widows & widowers: etiquette for inviting in-laws

My fiance and I are both widowed and over 65. This will be our third marriage. We are trying to put together a guest list for the wedding and reception and have hit a snag on whether it would be appropriate to invite the in-laws from our past marriages (second). I don't object to her inviting her husband's in-laws. However, she objects to my inviting my wife's sister and husband. She's found numerous references on the web for "second" marriages that recommend against this. However, my view is that these articles are dealing with second marriages resulting from divorce where there are children and strong emotions involved. Any help on this subject would be appreciated.
