     When to get engaged

Smile I am going through a divorce that is taking awhile. my lawyer said that we should have it finalized in about 6 more months. I was married for 3 years. Since I left him I have fallen in love with a wonderful man that I have know for a few years at my place of employment. We are currently living together and talking of marriage. He is wondering if it would be acceptable to give me a ring before the divorce is final. I am legally separated and we do plan on getting married as soon as I have my final papers. Help.

I think it's best if you wait until the divorce is final. Heck, you've waited this long and if your love is true it will stand the test of time. Don't rush things...

I say wait until the divorce is final... it'll be easier for you to consider your new life together once you close the old chapter. FH gave me a ring long before his separation agreement matured and I moved in with him. If I could do it all again... I would have told him I'll move in with you when your divorced and can set a wedding date. Not sure about where you live, but the final paperwork on FH's divorce was done in December or January and he still doesn't have his decree in his hands. It was handled out of court but with both signatures???? Just wait a little longer...
