Family Only Wedding

My fiance and I are in our 40's and will be getting married in July. We have three children from previous marriages (he has two daughters 17 and 15, I have a son 9). We want to have a very small wedding, just us, our kids, and our mothers. Maybe one friend each but probably just the family. We are thinking of a combined family vacation/wedding, going to a nice resort. I have been combing the internet and the only advice I seem to find is on weddings/receptions bigger than this. Am I an anomoly? Although this is small, we want to make it very special for us and particularly our children. So I am looking for advice on how to make this very small, very intimate, yet hugely important moment beautiful and memorable. Given the size, there obviously will not be a formal reception (we will probably just go out to eat someplace nice or at the resort). We want to get married outside and include the children. Again, any advice is very welcome.
