if you are using silk flowers, go to michaels.com to the crafts section and type in bouquets and they will give you step by step instructions. I'm going to try make my own also. this should prove to be interesting. i've got a little less than a year til the wedding so if i screw it up, i still have time to choose another option.

I just joined last night and can tell you gals you can make all of your wedding creations. I made everything for my daughter and it was a blast, and will now hapily share my success story with you and hope you all get your creative juices flowing. In the long run you will all save money too! This was what i did for the bridal, toss, bridesmaids, and matron of honor bouquets. There are many web sites on the net offering instructions for almost everything (except my daughter's faux wedding cake, bridal bouquet shadow box and cake topper....for those i just used my creative imagination which by the way to my amazement just grew:). So, just find one website and follow their instructions to you liking and proceed. You have a choice to use either size wedding bouquet holder and lace insert. They offered 2 sizes at the craft store I went to; a medium size and a larger size. I made the first trial wedding bouquet using the larger size then disassembled that and used the smaller size since I felt the larger size bouquet was much too heavy for anyone to carry and although it looked gorgeous was too overpowering. I settled with the smaller size bouquet holder and lace collar for all of the wedding party bouquets (10 in all). I made my daughter's bridal bouquet and her toss bouquet using high quality silk flowers in her favorite color scheme of pale pink, cream and lavendar, and used roses since that is her favorite flower. I chose to also use wired offray cream ribbon and completely covered the bouquet handles then added trails of cream trailing lillies so they flowed down the handle. I finished the handles off with cream pearl oval hat pins and all the bouquet handles looked the same. For the brides bouquet I chose a variety of various sizes of silk roses and added a lot of pearl sprigs and touches of lavendar silk baby breaths to fill in the bare spots. I used white baby breaths too. Her toss and bridal bouquet are gorgeous as are all of the wedding party bouquets and many think we had a professional do them. I also made all of the bridal party's boutonnieres, my daughters cake topper, faux wedding cake with the leftover flowers, a bridal bouquet shadow box to hang on the wall and a faux mirrored and plexiglass wedding cake display box to place her faux floral wedding cake and wedding cake topper as the centerpiece of her wedding cake display box. The faux cake looked great and looked very real so she will have her professional baker make up the exact same cake for her wedding reception which I accepted as a very nice compliment. Don't be intimidated as I have never done anything like this before but was all for saving money. It seems all of my results for the items listed above paid off as far as looking beautiful and professional.

Hi, I've helped friends make their's by choosing long stemmed flowers and wrapping the bottoms with dampended papertowels and then wrapping that with plastic wrap. Then wrap the majority of the length with ribbon. This covers the plastic and gives a nice place to grip the flowers. The ribbon can be tied in a bow or allowed to hang after being knotted. I hope this helps.
