In the eyes of the church, is it considered adultery to marry a man who has been divorced?

This will be my first wedding event and my fiance's second wedding. He married at the J.P. Does the second wedding etiquette still apply to us?

Also, I have a bit of a religious question. I feel embarrassed to ask anyone I know. In the bible it says, "let no man separate what God has joined together" its not verbatum, but, does that mean that I will not be considered my husbands wife? That his first wife is still his wife in the eyes of the church?
I have issues about "adultery". In the eyes of the church, is it considered adultery to marry a man who has been divorced?

I see no reason why you cannot celebrate your wedding as your first - even though it may be your fiance's second wedding. Regarding your question(s) relating to "let no man separate what God has joined together". These words of Christ point to the intended permanence of marriage (Matthew 19:6 and Mark 10:9). You will find some variance in the response to your question, depending upon who you ask. However, I take the position that what is done cannot be undone. In the case of your fiance, man did "separate what God has joined together". So he is no longer married. If you choose to marry him, you will not be marrying a husband of another woman. My suggestion would be to discuss this with your clergy person and seek an interpretation based upon your denominational traditions.
