Divorced Catholic wanting to receive some sort of blessing in 2nd marriage

Hello! I'm a catholic who divorced and knows perfectly well I can't get remarried under the catholic religion because I did get married the first time thru the church.

I want to receive some sort of blessing for my second marriage. I'm once again marrying a Catholic like me, but he hasn't ever been married so we lboth ong for some sort of blessing at our union.

My first marriage ended because of my ex's infidelity and he getting another women pregnant. I don't know if I can get an annulment for that because he did not at all understand the real commitment our union was meant to be, but then again, I don't want to go thru that whole complicated process.

I just believe under God's eyes he knows I didn't break my vows and the sacred commitment, therefore I don't feel or consider myself a sinner at all. I believe I'm free again to love and make a new life. I don't even have children and I got divorced before I was 30, so definitely I desire to finally be able to have a home and a family.

I am really in love this second time and believe this is the love of my life, the man made to be with me.

My question is really about: How or what can we do to get this blessing? Can we use a pastor from another religion to do this kind of blessing? and if so, what kind of pastor or figure does this? How can we go about this?

Please help us because I really desire to get any sort of blessing after/during our civil wedding takes place.

Your query raises a few concerns. You state that both you and your future spouse are Catholic. If you take your faith tradition seriously, it is important to follow the specifications in canon law for a Catholic marriage. This involves getting an annulment from your first marriage. The annulment process, though long and involved, can be of great value in understanding what went wrong in your first marriage and can lead to emotional healing from the wounds of your past.

Since, however, you both seem to have chosen to marry outside the Church, you needn't go to a justice of the peace. There are many non-denominational pastors who will perform your ceremony in a church setting. Check the phone book for your area. This may put your hearts at ease, if you believe you are receiving the blessing of God, if not the Church of your faith.

In the future, if you should desire the blessing of the Catholic Church, seek out a sympathetic priest who will guide you as you fill out the annulment paperwork. From the information in your post, it appears there are definite grounds for a positive decision from the tribunal.

Thank you very much for your reply. The information is greatly appreciated. You have put our minds at ease about this. Thanks once again.

About the annulment, I do have to say...I believe I have enough valid reasons for my first marriage to be annuled but I'm not really concerned about getting one, due to the fact that I have already made my peace with my divorce, forgave my ex and just want to move forward with my life.

To be honest, I feel deep inside that God truly understands and that a long time ago he himself disolved that marriage without any paperwork just by knowing what happened and that never did I break my promise.
