Divorced Catholic seeking to remarry, fiance is Catholic and never been married.

Hello,

I am not sure about this one. I am a divorced catholic and know I can not remarry in the catholic church. Recently, I have been excepted in the Christian Faith and desire to marry the second time. My fiance is catholic and wants to marry in the catholic church. Since it is his first marriage and I am now practicing a "christian" faith and am not participating in the catholic mass can i marry him in the catholic church if I am now a Christian?

Thank you.

First of all remember --- all Catholics are Christians and not all Christians are Catholic. If you look back at history the other Christian faiths ---- Orthodox, Protestant, etc. all had their roots in the Catholic church.

I am assuming you are participating in a non denominational Christian Church. That is not an impediment to marriage in the Catholic Church, however, you will need to get an annulment from the first marriage. Where you practice your faith has no bearing on the annulment requirement.
