Divorced Catholic looking to remarry in a Catholic Church

I was married in a Presbyterian Church even though I am a born and raised Catholic because my husband was presbyterian. I'm in the middle of a divorce as we speak because my husband had an affair.I was wondering if I would be able to get married in a Catholic Church if I ever do re-marry because the Catholic Church does not recognize my first marriage.

If you should decide to re-marry in the Catholic Church, you will need to fill out the short form of annulment for a "defect of form" since your first marriage was outside the Church. This usually takes only a few days to process. Then you will be free to marry.

We would suggest you also get some quality Christian counseling to help you work through any anger or grief you may be experiencing because of your husband's infidelity. Letting go of the old "baggage" from previous relationships will help you tremendously in any future relationships.

May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time.

My fiance' and I are looking into having a church wedding. He is not, and never has been Catholic, but was previously married for seven years. His marriage dissolved due to infidelity on her part, and years of unhappiness on both sides.

I am confirmed Roman Catholic, but I'm having trouble explaining to my fiance' why it would be required, not to mention cost so much, to have this annulment so that we can marry.

I've contacted my diocese, but have received no response on a parish or diocesan level. There seems to be an air of disapproval since he is not Catholic, and has no plans to become Baptised. (He has never had a particular religious affiliation. His mother is Baptist and his father is Catholic, he chose to follow neither.)

I need help, advice...SOMETHING. He loves me and is very willing to do this if we can find a way to afford it...but he wants specifics that I just cannot provide.

HELP....
