     Annulment required?

I'm Anglican and was married in an Anglican church. A Catholic priest was present, as my former husband is Catholic [this all took place in Canada]. I am now divorced, and about to remarry in the Carribean [not a religious ceremony]. I have all the documentation that's required for re-marrying abroad [translated and notarized divorce papers, etc.], but I'm wondering if an annulment is required?

I can not see any reason why you would need an annulment to have a civil ceremony. A divorce is all that is normally necessary. Now if you were getting married in the Roman Catholic church you would need an annulment.

Congratulations on finding love again. Even though the Anglican Church does not require annulment in order to remarry, there may be certain requirements that need to be met. Since 1973, the Anglican (or Episcopal Church in America) has relaxed some restrictions, but if you are planning on remarrying with the Anglican Church's blessing, please talk with your pastor.

We also suggest some good, practical pre-marriage counseling before tying the knot. It's always helpful to discuss topics such as in-laws, children, finances, and emotional "baggage" from previous relationships. Let God guide your decisions and keep His love and wisdom uppermost in your marriage. He will always be there to help you solve any problems. May He bless you both.
