How does widower protect assets before remarriage

I am a widower and I don't plan on getting married anytime soon. If I do eventually get married, I wanted to know what are some options on protecting my assets? Prenups are really a touchy subject as everyone knows, and if I ever do get married, I am scared of losing that person over money I am trying to protect that was awarded to me by a court through a lawsuit involving the death of my wife years ago. My feelings are that this isnt a lottery ticket, this is a great deal of money I came into because of pain and suffering and the loss of my wife. And with everything I dealt with I want to protect it, but I fear if I get married, and for whatever reason If I get a divorce, she will get half of that. What are other options besides a prenup that will protect money I have before marriage? Trust funds of some kind?

This isn't the sort of advice you should leave to an online forum. Please consult with a professional in the financial field. We have a referral and some good financial planning advice for second marriages right on this website.
