How can I protect my assests in a second marriage

Hi,

I am planning a second marriage in the spring. I have relocated to another province and have given up my acceptance to Medical School to be with my partner. Since moving here I have discovered that his finances are VERY intertwined with his family. They have a very sucessful family business which I am more than happy to sign any agreeent about. My worries are if something were to happen to my spouse and his home as well as his cottage are in all three of their names his, his Mother and Father, where would that leave me and my 5 yr old son. I am worried that I will give up my career options to be a homemaker and loose my potential income is there any way I can protect my future ? If my partner were to passaway I do not want to be dependant on his family or not have my own home? Is there a prenup that can protect me?Unsure

Regards,

Doc

You should contact a local attorney who specializes in prenuptial agreements. You should defintely have a prenup.
