His Bankruptcy

 My fiancee lives in Arizona and had declared bankruptcy, which has 5 more years on the record books. When we marry, will that bankruptcy become a part of my credit history ? Would it make any difference if I do not change my name, keeping my maiden name. What is the best way to handle this ? My credit is good.
