Formal wedding invitations for an informal wedding?
As my mom's wedding present, my husband and I are purchasing my mother's wedding invitations. This is her second wedding. My mom and my soon to be stepdad are paying for the wedding. It is to be pretty informal. They are only inviting her two brothers and their immediate family and a few of his friends. Bride will be wearing a champagne designer wedding dress and my daughter and I will be wearing traditional bridesmaid flower girl dresses. There will be suits for the guys not tuxedos. The wedding is to be outside at a cottage during the day, with a buffet type lunch or dinner at a restaurant depending on what time the wedding will take place ( still waiting on the priest for time). My mom loves the look of formal invitations. Can we use formal invitations for an informal wedding? If so, how do we word these invitations?

The question is how to word the invitations and what type of invitations to get; formal, semi formal, casual? I explained my mom's wedding because she really likes formal invitations but her wedding isn't really formal so I didn't know if that would be okay.

Dear Happyforthem,
The invitations are the first indication of the formality of the event. So, these really should be informal. However, the look could be somewhat formal, but use informal paper--thinner.
The wording can be any you choose. They will be inviting their guests, so their names would be at the top. Please read more about
