Please help!! I need to make sure I am not making a mistake. How soon is too soon to have a 2nd wedding and renew vows? Can it be like a traditional 1st wedding, like inside a church and with a reception, etc.? Please help me?!?!?

How soon is too soon?

Dear How Soon,
It is never too soon. You can have your renewal any time. It can be every bit as elaborate as a first wedding. There just are a few things to omit such as having your father walk you down the aisle. It is not necessary.
Enjoy!

Is it still unnecessary to be walked down the aisle even though it will be my 1st church wedding? When we first got married, we went to the local JP because we couldn't afford an elaborate wedding.

It is just that you are already married, so for your father to walk you down the aisle may seem unnecessary. But, you could have some veribage from your officiant and father that indicates to your guests that he is happy to share in your joy of reaffirming your vows--something that makes sense to your guests.

Please remember that a vow renewal or reaffirmation ceremony is not a gift giving event so you shouldn't be expecting gifts. However, some friends and family may wish to honor you with gifts; it's their choice.
