I will be legally divorced by Berkeley County court this week (final paperwork signed and filed). I now live in NE and wonder if there are any restrictions that can be imposed on me as far as remarriage. We would like to remarry by the end of this month, and wonder if SC can make me wait to remarry for any reason. We were legally separated for over four years and had one daughter together. My fiance and I have been together for three of those years. What are the laws in the state of South Carolina regarding remarriage or second weddings?

We cannot address the specific issues raised in your post as we are not thoroughly familiar with SC or NE laws for remarriage but, in general, you will not be able to remarry in any state unless and until your divorce in SC is completely final. You must have a final divorce decree. I would suggest contacting the court in SC handling your divorce for further guidance regarding when you may legally remarry.
