My best friend is getting remarried. She wore her mother's wedding gown in her first wedding and wants to wear the same gown again for the 2nd. It is a beautiful gown and has no train. I say she shouldn't wear it because she wore it for her first wedding. She says she wanted to get married in her mother's gown and wants the memories of her mother's good fortune (43 years) in her wedding. She wants to show her daughter or son pictures of the brides and show tradition and roots. I say she is jinxing the wedding and everyone will talk. What do you think, what is apropriate?

If your friend wants to wear the same gown and feels comfortable who are we to tell her differently? Once you have politely shared your feelings I would suggest that you back off and allow her to follow her own dream and, as her friend, support her decision. Go, smile, wish her luck and enjoy the wedding.
Frankly, I dpn't believe in all of those old wives tales about luck, jinx and superstition.

I completely agree. It is the dress that she wants to wear and she feels comfortable in it. And really, will anyone but you remember the dress from her first wedding? And, if they do, what could they possibly say? This is a celebration of two people beginning a new life together. That should be the focus.
