Hi,

Can anyone help me identify terms?

My first wife abandoned me and kids years ago.

She remarries, and so do I.

I am father...

My new wife is step-mother

My ex-wife is still mother, right? Even though she has very little contact with kids.

My ex-wife's husband is not considered a step-father, is he?

Even though your ex has nothing more to do with your children, biologically and legally she is still their mother. You are the father, your new wife is the stepmother. Your new wife's ex husband would only be a step father if he married a new woman who has children. He is not any realtion to your children and carries no title.

Whatever you and your children wish to call these people who are obviously very much involved in your lives is totally up to you.
