Hi
My husband and I are planning to renew our wedding vows for our 10th anniversary. We are going to have the ceremony on the beach of a tropical island. I have been reading a lot on the correct type of dress to wear and am aware that the dress can be white, but should not be perceived as a wedding dress.
I found this dress that I really like (please see attached pictures), will this dress be appropriate for my vow renewal or does it look like a wedding dress?
My husband will be wearing a suit, but without a tie. Will that be appropriate?
Thank you for all the advice, you are doing an excellent job!
Thank you in advance for your help.

Is my dress acceptable for a vow renewal?

Congratulations on marriage success!
I'm going to answer based on the little information you've given. It's always best to have more details like guests, time of day and location to answer completely.
If this is a private renewal (just you and the hubby) then wear whatever makes you two happy. It is only when we invite guests that we apply proper etiquette since it's all about making our guests comfortable. Causing them to be confused applies to their comfort level.
So, back to your dress...do you think it looks like a wedding dress? Do you think your guests might be confused? My opinion - I think as long as you avoid a veil or headpiece (looking less like a bride) and your renewal is formal (since this is a formal evening dress) it could fly. Just think it through and plan appropriately.
Hope this helps and you have a lifetime of marital bliss.

Great advice! And, I agree. But, for me, because it is white, it does resemble a wedding dress. If it were in a different color, it probably wouldn't be a problem.
But, this is just my opinion. Others may not consider it even close.
