I know it isn't a wedding cake, but I really want a small funky coloured Mad Hatter styled 2 tier cake for our renewal on our 13th anniversary. We had a funky 70s style 4 tier stacked cake for our 10th wedding anniversary (we met at a 70s night and had 70s theme for anniversary party). I have read somewhere that writing is ok on an anniversary cake but not a wedding cake, and I have seen a stacked cake with lovely poetry piped round it, would that be acceptable? With our names on it too, no cake topper, but maybe a '13' on the top (like the pic of the 40th cake below). To be honest I have designed stacked tier cakes for all my kids birthdays, naming ceremonies, etc. and have never used a 'sheet' cake for anything. My other idea would be to have mini cakes (for my children' last birthdays we had a small top cake with lots of cupcakes underneath).

Will this be ok? Or is it too much like a wedding cake?

Most tiered cakes like that look like wedding cakes to me.

True, most stacked cakes do look like wedding cakes. But, if you use the numbers, you should be fine. Of course writing is great as well.
