Re-Do Wedding

My husband and I eloped a couple of years ago. None of our family or friends could attended. We also lost all of our possessions last year so we no longer have any photos etc from the first time. We would now like to "re-enact" our wedding ceremony so to speak and have a semi formal reception afterward so that all our family and friends can attend and my dad can walk me down the isle, though not to give me away but more as an escort and we can get some more photos. We would also be wearing traditional wedding clothes with a best man and bridesmaid. Now while I know that you would normally do a vow renewal with no attendants and without the tradition attire we would really like to re-create the wedding. Are there any rules etc that I should follow?

Thanks in advance
Rebecca

Dear Rebecca,

There are no re-dos for weddings. I'm sorry. You are married. So, it just might appear a bit silly, if not odd, for a husband and wife to pretend to marry again. Even the vow renewal doesn't appear to be a wedding. Just consider how you would even invite your guests. What would you be inviting them to? Would you request their presence to a wedding re-do? It could be very embarrassing and awkward for all. There is no right way to do any of it because it isn't proper.

This just isn't done by those who know what is proper. Please reconsider.

We have very many posts concerning this very thing. Please read them. Also, please read vow renewal etiquette. This advice is also in most etiquette books.

Best wishes,
