I have fallen deeply in love with a recent widower. Somehow, we managed to stumble into each other's lives via eharmony although we were both reluctant to become involved. We quickly found that we are so perfectly matched it is almost eerie, from temperament to values, hobbies, chemistry (a lot of that!) and personal tastes. Our question is this: have any other Christian couples navigated these murky waters successfully, learning to share the loss and grief of the berieved one as their love grows? David has only been widowed since June 2008 (very recent!), but he did much of his grieving during her year-long illness since doctors told him she would not survive. We need to hear encouragement right now, not horror stories. Does it make any difference that we are Christians who believe God brought us together and that our friends and family approve of our match?

Congratulations on finding love again. It's wonderful when we discover that we can continue to live and have deep feelings even after a devastating loss.

Having a strong faith in common is certainly an important factor. As a widowed woman myself, I think as long as you are both open and honest, communicating your feelings, you can certainly make a success of a relationship between two greiving people.

You haven't mentioned if there are children involved, or your ages, but having the support of friends and family is a big plus. Typically, children and family are what "rocks the boat".

You sound as though you have a nice relationship, however, our site is focused on marriage and we answer questions regarding issues surrounding couples getting married. Since you are not at that juncture (yet) I would seek counseling from your pastor, priest or a family therapist.

FYI -This forum is not a chat room where members discuss their feelings. It is a forum where a team of our wedding experts answer specific questions about getting married again.
God bless you both.
