My fiance has asked his daughter to be his honor attendant. She wants to wear a tux. Is this appropriate?

You are a woman of few words. [] Having more information might be helpful but I'm getting the impression that you don't want her to wear a tux. The only time a tuxedo is the proper attire for anyone is when the wedding is taking place in the evening and is formal. So, if you're looking for a way to tell her she cannot properly wear a tux then you have your way out there.

Personally, I think it is odd and will probably appear odd to your guests. I'm not sure why she wants to wear a tux but I assume she is gay. Even Ellen DeGeneres didn't wear a tux to her own wedding. [unsure]

I have to thank you. My coworker and I just got a huge laugh from your response! You guessed right, I am not happy about this at all. I've hoped it would all just go away, or that when she tried the tux on, she would change her mind. But no such luck!

I guess I'll have to grin and bear it. But knowing that I'm not the only one who finds this totally bizarre will give me inner comfort on the big day!

I suppose some will just say we're old farts [shocked] and not up with the times. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against the gay community, but a woman in man's clothing and a man in woman's clothing attracks attention, plain and simple fact. We never want to distract attention from the bride and groom at their own wedding. There's another piece of ammunition for you.

Again, if your wedding is anything but formal you can tell her the tuxedo is only worn for formal evening events.

I'm sorry that I couldn't have chimed in sooner. But, females who stand on the groom's side are supposed to dress as the bridesmaids, with only the difference of the corsages being the same color as the groomsmen. Maybe that will help.
