My husband and I were married 9.5 years ago in a small ceremony at my in-laws house. I was married previously, but my husband had never been vxczmarried before.

Next year on our 10 year anniversary, we are getting married in the church and having the large, formal wedding and reception we didn't have the first time.

I wanted this to be a more "anniversary" party, but since my husband never had a large ceremony and reception
(as I did the first time) he wants the whole big thing.

So, is it a renewal, convalidation, or what? We didn't register or have gifts the first time, so do we do it now or not? I know I will wear a formal gown, but not "wedding" gown with the train and veil. I have told my husband tuxes!!!

We have 4 children together and want them as the only "attendants". How do I do taht? I've seen all stuff on blended families, but that isn't what we are.

I'm so confused as to what's proper.

Since you are already married, whatever ceremony you plan will not be a wedding and should not appear to be one.
