Here's the short version....My third, his second but my first "real" wedding. We are planning a private ceremony, followed by an informal hour d'houves outdoor reception.

My parent's had a very bitter divorce 25 years ago. I'm very close to my step father, and have a on again/off again relationship with my real father.

Question...I'm thinking of having my real father walk me half way down the isle, with my step father taking the second half and the actual "handing off" to my future husband. Is this proper etiquette? I don't want to offend either, yet I find it comforting to have my real dad, who was there during the beginning of my life hand me off to my step dad, who's been there during the majority of life, who then hands me off to the love of my life.

Your thoughts?

Dear Buginarug,

You really don't need any one to escort you down the aisle. But, if you wish, your plan is fine.

Best wishes,
