What are the rules for re-using the ring from my first marriage? I know that sounds bad, but it was expensive and I still like it more than the rings I have seen at the jewelry store. I'm over the first guy and definitely not holding on to it for sentimental reasons. My fiance is willing to buy me a new ring, but frankly, I'd rather use that $4,000 on our new house or furniture. I think the only people that would notice it's the same one would be my ex (if I ever see him) or my 3 co-workers. What should I do?

Re-using Rings from first Marriage

Have you discussed this with your groom? I'll bet he has some feelings about using a ring from another man. Sell the old ring and put the money toward your new home. Let your groom buy you the ring he wants you to have.

Traditionally it is viewed in poor taste. In the etiquette world it is as well. And, a ring is a symbol of your continuing love. So, it really means something. Decide wisely.
