I have been trying to find the terminology for the officiant for the renewal of our wedding vows. At the end of the ceremony, instead of the officiant saying I now pronounce you husband and wife, what would he say? I mean, we are already husband and wife so to me it wouldn't make sense to say that.

Here is one option:

By the great love which has brought you here today, by the sacred and solemn vows you have exchanged and the integrity of your commitment, this marriage is hereby reaffirmed and blessed in the presence of God, family and friends.

Blessings!

Excellent words from Reverend Susanna, as always. Just a note that an officiant is not necessary, nor is any legal paperwork, for a wedding vow renewal ceremony. You certainly can have an officiant preside over the ceremony, but, you don't have to ask a member of the clergy. This person can be a friend or even a family member or you can just recite the vows to each other. Whatever works for you.

Thank you very much for the option you gave me. I think it is perfect. As far as the officiant I am aware of not needing one. It actually is a very close friend, he was friends with my parents when i was born and he just so happens to be a judge also, so it works out perfect in so many ways. Thank you so much both![cool]
