Hello-

My husband and I have been married for 7 years in March. When we married, I had 3 children and he one. We now have 5 grandchildren also. The last year has been extremely traumatic for us, I will not go into great detail here but the year has brought serious health issues including Cancer diagnosis for one child also for one of our mothers and the death of a father. The death occurred the week after Thanksgiving and then 2 weeks later the mother with breast cancer was rushed to the hospital with a apparent heart attack. She is doing better now. The new year has begun with our last baby leaving to college, now I am sure you can figure that this is much less traumatic for Dad then it is for me...MOM! Ok- so it has been a really bad year and the beginning of 2007 hasn't been great yet. LOL

I had the bright idea that we need a NEW START! It occurred to me that a vow renewal might be a good way for my husband and I to recommitt ourselves to each other. We always said we would do a vow renewal to share our love with friends and family as we didn't have any family or friends at the first, yes it was a JP, of course 3 of our 4 children were there and witnesses.

Anyway, I was just curious if you thought that this is a good reason, a appropriate reason, to renew vows. I always thought we would do it during a anniversary, 5th or 10th. But, I just feel it is needed.

I have read the site and agree and understand the etiquette surrounding vow renewals. Just curious about the reason for the occasion and the timing, being that it is not our anniversary.

Thanks for your website, it is great!

Christine in INDY.

Dear Christin in INDY -

I agree that your family could use some happiness right about now. If this will be a family event (not just the two of you flying off to somewhere tropical) then be sure that everyone is healthy enough to attend.

Go ahead and celebrate your successful marriage. You don't have to wait for an anniversary.

Wishing you peace, hope and love in the coming year!

I agree! This is a perfect reason for your vow renewal.

Health and happiness to all.
