My fiance and I are planning a small informal wedding. We are thinking we would just like to have cake and punch at the church after the ceremony for everyone, and no reception. I'm not sure how to word the invitations. I know the mention of gifts is not proper on the invitation, but we really are not expecting any... is there any way to also include this on the invitation?

Cake and punch reception invitation

Dear Karay,
Usually the time of day will dictate the type of reception. So, if this is scheduled at a time the guests expect just cake and punch, you don't have to worry about the wording. If not, I would suggest rescheduling as it isn't polite to invite guests to an event during a time they would expect a meal and not provide one.
If your wedding is informal, you could use an example from our second wedding invitation wording page. Just exchange 'cocktail' for 'cake'.
Best wishes,
