We were married at our home by an officiant this year. We are planning a formal affair as a religious union with our family and friends. For this instance, can we do the service as if it is the first time? We have done the registry because we still need things. However, I am not concerned about bachelorette parties or any of that. I just want to make this a family affair and share the joy and love with my family.

Dear Wants Two Weddings,

No, you should not register even though you already did. It would be unfortunate to be thought of as socially inept. This is what many people feel about the recent multiple weddings of a well known celebrity. Wives and husbands do not ask for gifts for their vow renewal. Please read more about vow renewal etiquette.

This should not appear to be a wedding, because it is not. Unless you divorce your husband and remarry, you cannot 'marry' him again.

It would be in better taste to host a wedding reception. This is what we typically host after our weddings.

If this is to be a blessing of your vows, it is viewed the same as the vow renewal--no wedding. And, it is also not a gift giving event.

Best wishes,
