We have received an invitation to attend a second marriage reception for two of our friends who had a private ceremony a couple of months ago. The invitation reads: "We finally did it, and we invite you to share in the celebration of our marriage." It's set for a Friday evening, beginning at 7 pm at a local country club. No other info is listed.
Should we understand this to be a sit-down dinner, or just a cocktail reception? Also, appropriate attire is not mentioned. Is a suit expected for men, or will something less do?
Unfortunately, due to our experience with the bride's first wedding ten years ago, we know she is very particular as to how she envisions a wedding event should be.
Would it be appropriate to call the bride to clarify? We know of no one else who has been invited.
Thanks!

Second Wedding Reception Invitation

Dear Guest,
Sure, you could call. This is appropriate. But, I would imagine that it would be cocktail attire, which is the suit for men and the little black dress or its equivalent for women.
Best wishes,
