My fiance's divorce is final at long last (7 years) and we're readyto go forward with our wedding plans. What amount of time shoud we let pass before announcing our engagment? He has two grown children who know we have been living together for a few years.

Once the divorce is final the decison about when to announce the engagement is a personal one. Even though these "kids" are grown it will be best for your fiance to tell them first, in person if possible. Then, any parents any family members should be notified (this does not include and ex-souses unless the relationship is amiable and you want to tell) and then the friends.
