Since we will have new rings for our vow renewal, how should they be worked into the ceremony and who should carry them? Do we wear our old rings and remove them during the ceremony or just don't wear them?

Dear Helena,

Since this is not a wedding, you don't have those strict traditions to work within. So, you may do this any way you wish. You could wear your rings and your children could bring your new ones to you as you vow your continued love for one another.

Best wishes,

I have performed the ring exchange in various ways:

-It can be done as it was done for your first wedding.

-Your children can bring you your rings. (Lovely!)

-You can take off your old rings and replace them with new rings. This symbolism holds special meaning for couples who really want to make it NEW. Your officiant can make mention of this.

-If there is any special significance to your rings, you can ask your officiant to mention the significance in the ceremony.

-Your rings can also be placed on a lovely plate on the altar or ceremonial table.

Blessings!
