An Incomplete Ceremony

What do you do when you have been married for several years, but the original ceremony was done while incarcerated? You never took any pictures, hence no prior wedding pictures. You didn't have your father give you away, you didn't have a wedding dress, you didn't have a wedding cake, no first dance, no bridal shower or bachelor party, no honeymoon, nothing, nada, zilch. Basically no "real" ceremony. Only a few papers as memories. Parents are aging and family members are sickly. We know we need to do something, but What? Should we consider this ceremony a Vow Renewal or a 2nd Wedding? I don't know....any suggestions? Can we do everything we didn't do the first time? Is this appropriate?

Dear Staceybleu-

This is a vow renewal since you are already married. Please review our pages on renewing vows and the etiquette involved. Use the navigation on the left.
