My wife and I were married in a civil ceremony 4 months ago. Its her second (divorce) and my second as well (widower). She has obtained her anulnment and wish to participate in the sacrement of marriage as we are both Catholics. We now are planning our religious "wedding" or vow renewal. Can anyone suggest proper wording on the invitation since we are already married in a legal sense and are now participating in the sacremental rite. It looks wierd and inappropriate to have the wording "The honor or your presence is requested at the marriage of Jane Doe and John Smith" First its not a "wedding" per se as a wedding vow renewal, and my wife is no longer known as Jane Doe, Jane Smith. Any suggestions on wording would be appreciated!

Dear Blessed,

You could invite your guest to the blessing of your marriage. Use your married names: Mr. and Mrs... If your priest has another name for this (I am not Catholic, sorry), then invite your guest to this. But, the concept is the same.

Depending on the formality of your event, this could be worded informally, such as "please join us ...". Any informal language will work. The wording is very flexible since this is not a wedding.

Best wishes,
