My fiance and I are getting married in a candlelight ceremony in late April. Due to the later hour of the ceremony (7:30PM), we were thinking of having a hors d'oeuvres/desserts reception instead of a full dinner. (There will be about 60-65 people at the wedding/reception, which is all at the same location.)

Is this acceptable? It has been a LONG time since I have had to plan a wedding.......

Dear Late Night,

This is a gray area because some may have to travel and may not have time to eat before your ceremony. Plus, some areas in the country are different. If you were planning your event here in Sacramento, California, many here wouldn't expect a full dinner. However, in New York, they may.

So, if you plan to serve heavy hors d'oeuvres, you may be fine.

Oops, I should have let you know that almost of the guests are local - and it's Vermont. Not terribly formal here in the Green Mountains!
