I have been all over this web site and I am still having trouble with a sentence in my vows I am writing for our vow renewal ceremony.[blush] I was wondering if I posted the sentence if someone could tell me if it truly makes sense? [unsure]I know what I want to say, I am having trouble making sound right.

Thanks in advance....

* ( one I have now) ....With this new ring I give to you, I wish it only to be the start of a new chapter in our life together..... Remembering the good times we have had and the laughter we shared, learning from the tribulations that have and are yet to cross our path that we may grow even more in our relationship....... OR

Remembering the good times we have had and the laughter we have shared, learning from the tribulations that have crossed our path that we may continue to support each other.

OR

Remembering the good times we have had, the laughter we have shared. Learning from the hardships that have taxed our relationship so we may continue to support each other.

something just is not right ? After this sentence I go into ...I promise ......

Hello my dear, I have taken the liberty to edit/adapt the first. The second two sound fine to me.

With this ring, symbolic of the new chapter in our life together..... We remember the good times and the laughter we shared, learning from tribulations past and those yet to cross our path, we will continue to grow in our relationship with love and support.......

OR

Remembering the good times we have had and the laughter we have shared, learning from the tribulations that have crossed our path that we may continue to support each other.

OR

Remembering the good times we have had, the laughter we have shared. Learning from our hardships so we may continue to support each other.

Personally, I like the first one. However, these are YOUR words and feelings. They need to feel right for you.

Then continuing with "I promise" works well...

Blessings!

Thank You! Rev. Susan, you have helped me place my words although my final is not quite the same, I am happy with it.
