I have read and reread the postings and the pages of the renewal etiquette and I want to know if there is a way of having my father walking me down the aisle. I know he wont be giving me away, but my husband and I had a 15 minute wedding by ourselves with witnesses and a pastor we did know. I was wearing a maternity outfit. My father did not have the money at the time for a wedding and I will not be asking for his money for this renewal. I just want him to walk me down the aisle. I want to be the first before he walks any of my sisters. I want wedding pictures and I want to wear a dress. How can I make this a memorable ceremony for me and my family without looking so tacky and getting to far away from the "etiquette". I also want a reception with the father daughter dance etc. I am not so worried about the garter toss or the bouquet toss, but every girl dreams about a beautiful wedding, how come due to etiquette some of us can not get that? There has to be some way to make this work. Does any one have any suggestions? Thank you

You don't have to choose to follow etiquette. But if you care about how your event will be perceived by others than you should consider vow renewal etiquette. A good host always cares about her guests.
We all have things we WANT. Heck, I want to be a size 4 but I also want to eat cake and ice cream whenever I want. Unfortunately, we all have to make choices and then live with those choices. There are repercussions for every action we take. Sometimes you cannot have your cake and eat it too.

I completely agree.
Etiquette isn't supposed to be painful or prohibiting. It is merely the rules we set for ourselves to behave in a civilized manner.
A wife is different from a bride. If you remember this in all of your planning, you will be making appropriate choices. For example, how can a father dance his last dance with his little girl before she begins her new life with her new husband, when his little girl has been married for some time?
Please focus on the fact that you are happily married and celebrating this. Keep the family focus and include them.
Best wishes,

Me and my husband are renewing our wedding vows but we also would like to have a wedding ceremony. Me nor my husband has never had a wedding ceremony and I would very much like to have the traditional ceremony change a little bit. I would like to wear a gown and have bridemaids and groomsmen. What do you think?
