I flew to my husband's country and we married there. Due to visa issues I am back in the states and he is waiting to come here. My question is can we have a reception here in my country with family and friends most of all my daughter since she could be there for the wedding? Or should we have a vow renewal only? Please help??

Renewing Vows In Husband's Country
#2
Dear New Bride,
It would be viewed better if you just had a reception and skipped the vow renewal. Many times hosting a vow renewal directly after marrying is viewed as just another way to garner gifts. This is due to the fact that so many couples create a 'wedding like' feel to them. But, the reception is completely proper and viewed positively.
It would be a wonderful idea to display a slide show of your wedding pictures or a video of your wedding during your reception. This way all of your guests will be able to be witnesses to your wedding.
Best wishes,

Dear Rebecca,
Thank you very much for your help with this issue. We were planning to display our pictures and also play the dvd of our wedding in Jordan. I also had a second question for you that I just thought about...should we have cake & mints only or include tea sandwichs with a side dish such as some kind of salad or could we replicate the meal we had after our wedding which was chicken, rice & almonds with a traditional dessert to follow???

It would be best to serve the food that would be expected at the time of day. So, if you were hosting this during a time when a meal is expected, you would want to serve the entire meal.

Thank you Rebecca! What time of the day should we have a reception if we only wanted to have cake and other desserts with coffee, tea & punch? We are short on funds and we are not asking my parents for help since this is my second marriage and they supplied everything for the first marriage. So would just the cake and trimmings be ok?

Your idea is fine. This could be planned for late morning, such as 10-11am or mid-afternoon, such as 2-3pm.
