I read that it is not good etiquette to register when you renew vows, however, my husband and I have only been married for six months. We are renewing our vows in 2 months. We had no showers, (we were married at the courthouse), no gifts, and no reception. Is is still against etiquette to register for gifts???

Registering for gifts when you renew vows?

A vow renewal is not considered a gift giving event no matter when you renew. So, I am afraid the answer is no, you should not register for gifts when you renew your vows.
Although you should not expect gifts there may be some guests who do bring a gift. But you would still not register.
Try to focus on what you're doing here, which is standing up in the presence of all of those closest to you in order to profess your love for one another. Being in such a loving, committed relationship is your gift.

I completely agree. If you were to register for a non-gift giving event such as this, you would be redirecting the focus from what it is supposed to be. It may appear as if the reason you are renewing your vows is to receive gifts.
